The Recalibrated Compass — Alexandra Fendrich

Alex is a writer and educational program director living in New York City. She began writing about her mother’s rare illness after teaching a personal narrative unit to middle school students, whose impactful writing inspired her to do some of her own. After her diagnosis at age 26, she began writing about her own health challenges. She uses writing as a tool in managing spondylitis, and is a strong believer in the power of personal narrative. When she’s not writing about health, grief, and unusual diseases, you can usually find her strolling the streets of the Lower East Side.
